About

The Arcadian Surf Life Saving Club, established in 1928, is a registered not-for-profit community service organisation and has over 400 members, of which over 100 are active volunteer patrolling members. Our volunteer lifesavers patrol Alma Bay on Magnetic Island every full weekend and all public holidays during the season.

Our volunteers are drawn from all age groups and demographics, and are recognised as highly trained, active members of the wider community. Arcadian SLSC also runs a very successful Nippers program for children aged 5 to 13 years, which teaches children surf safety as well as introduces them to surf sport competitions in a fun and relaxed environment.   Additionally, we provide a Cadet program for teens aged 14 to 18 years, which keeps them engaged in the surf lifesaving movement through fun activities and excursions whilst also taking part in training for surf rescue competitions that teach them the skills needed to become active patrolling members, as well as responsible and community service focused members of the wider community. The Club also provides training for members including surf lifesaving specific courses such as the Surf Rescue Certificate and Bronze Medallion certification, as well as general first aid, advanced first aid, and Inflatable Rescue Boat crew and driving.
